Donor Relations Coordinator
Tochi Nwoke is a Donor Relations Coordinator for United Way of Northwest Louisiana. She is in the final year of her master’s program at Louisiana State University, Shreveport, studying public health. As a coordinator, she works closely with the donor relations team on related projects as well as annual campaigns, fundraising, and donor stewardship.
Tochi is originally Nigerian, where she bagged her first degree in foreign languages and culture (Russian and French). During this period, she got involved in volunteering activities which continued after school till date. Very intentional about the areas she wanted to impact in, she focused on health, education, and leadership as these areas affected people, especially at the grassroots level. Over the years, she has been able to gather experience in these key areas and laid foundational skills that she constantly builds upon.
In the aspects of stakeholder and fundraising engagements, campaign management, and partnerships with donors, her involvement with community impact-oriented projects has stretched further through her volunteer participation with national groups, particularly a foundation focused on health education back home in Nigeria-Beyond the Classroom Foundation.
Activities such as reaching out to local communities and schools in the rural areas both Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria has exposed her mind to better connect with people, listen and know what the needs of the priority population are, also deliver timely through the provisions from donors. The needs of the communities are enormous and endless, however, meeting those basic exigencies goes a long way to reduce the burden.
Tochi is poised to innovate other ways through which impact could be delivered, most importantly sustainably. She loves to listen to music, travel, spend time outdoors or in, with family and friends, also connect to people through learning their language and culture.
