OUR PROGRAMS
FREE TAX PREP
United Way of Northwest Louisiana offers two free tax preparation programs: VITA and MyFreeTaxes.com. Volunteer Incomes Tax Assistance (VITA) offers free tax preparation to those who make less than $60,000 at various locations during tax season. MyFreeTaxes.com is a free, safe and easy way to file your own taxes.
HELP WITH BANK ACCOUNTS
Bank On Northwest Louisiana helps the unbanked and underbanked achieve financial stability. Available in Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Bienville and Claiborne parishes, more than 7,700 individuals have been impacted by the program since 2016.
Lunch & Learn Program
Personal finance training to assist businesses in lowering their payroll costs and helping the unbanked and underbanked employees. Generally held during the lunch hour, the program works to reestablish relationships with safe and affordable institutions and become better managers of their personal finances.
FREE FINANCIAL COUNSELING
A partnership with the City of Shreveport and United Way of Northwest Louisiana, the Shreveport Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) provides professional, one-on-one financial counseling and coaching as a free public service to local residents. At the Shreveport FEC, professionally trained FEC counselors help individuals and families manage their finances, pay down debt, increase savings, establish and build credit, and access safe and affordable mainstream banking products.
