United Way of Northwest Louisiana hosted its third annual National Night Out. On Tuesday October 11 from 5p.m. to 7p.m, more than a hundred residents of the City of Minden showed up for the biggest block party in Webster parish.
The annual block party held at the United Way Webster-Bienville-Claiborne center known as the WBC Center demonstrated the community’s desire for unity. National Night Out is a community effort designed to heighten awareness for drug and crime prevention, strengthen neighborhood and police relationships and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods will not tolerate crime.
Nearly 20 area nonprofits were present to raise awareness of their cause and to provide community resources. David Raines Community Health Center provided free health screenings and Walgreens gave free flu shots. Representatives from the Louisiana State Parole and Prevention Center were on hand providing free ink fingerprinting services. Other vendors included: Goodwill, Bank On of Northwest Louisiana, Aime Hospice Care, Webb Family Medicine and more.
