UNITED WAY FUNDS 93 AREA NONPROFIT PROGRAMS IN 2016

It takes everyone in our communities working together to create a brighter future. Through hard work, donations, and time, United Way of Northwest Louisiana (UWNWLA) has been able to do just that. In 2015, the local United Way raised $2.3 million which will help more than 100,000 people living in our communities during 2016.  More than 73 programs were funded through the grant allocation process, and a total of 95 programs will be funded in 2016 by United Way.

“By giving to United Way of Northwest Louisiana, you can have confidence that your contributions are invested wisely through our allocation grant process,” said Bruce Willson, President and CEO.

In 2015, more than 800 companies, businesses and organizations, and more than 15,000 individual donors participated in United Way’s Workplace Campaign.  Through the community’s donations, more than $1.5M will be reinvested into our communities.

At an announcement today, company and nonprofit representatives saw their contributions at work. Seventy-three organizations were funded through the grant allocation process for programs in the areas of education, financial stability, health and essential needs. The funds raised each year help children, families, elderly, the homeless, the sick, the abused and the neglected in a ten parish area.

Those in need are helped through tutoring programs, mentoring programs, health screenings, literacy programs, housing programs, food programs, after school programs, and so many more.

“United Way works to bring groups together to find solutions and work at a community-wide level to address change,” said Willson.
