Income
United Way of Northwest Louisiana's goal is that
families have financial stability and independence.

Long Term Goal - Cut in half the number of low-income families that are financially unstable as measured by the federal poverty level.

Intermediate Goals:

  • Financial security is increased for those in jobs programs
  • Meaningful work is provided for those with disabilities
  • Increase in those eligible for benefits to receive them
  • Families have a financial plan

Family-sustaining Employment - Individuals access the training, education, and support needed to obtain and keep family-sustaining employment; the workforce development system is streamlined to increase access to training and facilitate placement in jobs that pay family-sustaining wages. Individuals with severe or significant disabilities have access to sheltered or supported employment.

Income Supports - Individuals and families enroll in the public, private and informal benefits for which they are eligible.

Financial Literacy/Independence - Families obtain financial literacy, credit repair and foreclosure counseling while building savings for unexpected expenses. They accumulate assets to support longer-term goals such as home ownership.
